Comprehensive front-end solution for latest generation of telecom cards
The Artesyn ATC210 dual input bus converter is the industry’s smallest front-end power module for latest generation telecom cards and provides Advanced Telecom Computing Architecture (ATCA/PICMG3.0) board designers with a rugged solution for generating intermediate bus voltages.
Most existing ATCA bus converters employ a combination of front-end interface and conversion module, consuming valuable board space. More than just a power converter, the new dual input ATC210 is a fully integrated solution that occupies 20%-40% less space than competitive products.
In addition to a high power density isolated DC/DC converter, the ATC210 provides comprehensive power interface and power management functionality. Power interface functions include ORing, filtering and transient protection, and inrush control. Power management functionality is facilitated by both I²C serial bus and high speed interfaces.
The converter has a 5.9cm x 4.6cm (2.3inch x 1.8inch) footprint and a typical full load efficiency of 89%, yielding a power density in excess of 3.7W per cubic cm (60W per cubic inch).
Rated at 210W, the ATC210 has dual inputs, each capable of accommodating a very wide input voltage range of -36V to 72V, and two independent, isolated DC outputs. The main 12V output can deliver up to 17.5A and is intended for powering an on-card intermediate bus. The secondary output, which is designed to supply peripheral power management circuitry, is rated at 1.8A and is resistor programmable over the range 3.13V to 3.47V.
Specifically designed for high availability telecoms applications, the ATC210 is based on a thermally efficient open frame design and offers an ambient operating temperature range of -25°C to +85°C. Conservative derating criteria provide for a typical MTBF in excess of 2 million hours (in accordance with Telcordia SR-332).
The new converter is comprehensively protected against overload and fault conditions, has a two-year warranty, and meets the rigorous ETS 300 386-1 immunity and emission standards. The product is fully compliant with EN60950-1 (TÜV Product Service) and UL/cUL60950-1 safety approvals.
