COMPETITION
Winner of Analog Devices Blackfin Evaluation Kit Announced

Innovation reader wins complete ‘out-of-box’ solution to rapid prototyping of Blackfin designs
Mikael Nordell, a hardware designer with Radius Sweden AB, is the lucky winner of the Analog Devices competition that ran in Innovation three of Arrow Innovation. Mikael wins an evaluation Kit that will speed the development and implementation of advanced automotive systems, multimedia designs and many other applications requiring embedded processing and DSP functionality.

The ADSP-BF537 EZ-KIT Lite from Analog Devices provides developers with a cost-effective method for evaluation of the ADSP-BF537 Blackfin Processor and its rich set of system peripherals, including the IEEE 802.3 10/100 Ethernet MAC and CAN 2.0B controller.

The EZ-KIT Lite includes an ADSP-BF537 Processor desktop evaluation board along with an evaluation suite of the VisualDSP++ development and debugging environment with the C/C++ compiler, assembler, and linker. It also includes sample processor application programs, a CE-approved power supply, a USB cable, both straight-through and cross-over Ethernet cables, a 3.5mm stereo cable, and a pair of stereo headphones.

The ADSP-BF537 is optimised for network connectivity, with a large amount of embedded memory to enable high data throughput. The device uses the Blackfin architecture’s flexible cache architecture, enhanced DMA subsystem and Dynamic Power Management (DPM) technology, combined with its unique combination of signal processing and control functions.

A TCP/IP stack with integrated device driver and example code is provided in VisualDSP++ release 4.0. This evaluation system was designed with an emphasis on modularity and expandability. With this EZ-KIT Lite, users can learn more about Analog Devices’ ADSP-BF537 hardware and software development and quickly prototype applications.
