Graphic Displays Feature Chinese Character Set

The MG1603GC9 and MG1903AC graphic character LCDs from Everbouquet provide the ability to display a variety of font sets including traditional and simplified Chinese, and Japanese.


The MG1603GC9 Series

The MG1603GC9 series provides a 160 x 32 dot display format, with package dimensions of 80mm x 36mm x 10mm. Viewing area is 64.5mm x 16.0mm. The MG1903AC series is a 192 x 32 dot display, with outline dimensions of 116mm x 37mm x 15mm, and viewing area of 84mm x 19mm.

Both devices include the Sitronix ST7920-0C integrated controller/driver which provides built-in character sets including GB Code (simplified Chinese), Big-5 Code (traditional Chinese) and Japanese code. The chip integrates all of the necessary display RAM, character generator ROM drivers and control circuits required, and supports three kinds of bus interface: 8-bit, 4-bit and serial.

The built-in fonts can handle 8 x 16 dot (half-height) characters (English, numbers and symbols), with 24 characters over two lines; and 16 x 16 dot characters (Chinese) with 12 characters over two lines.

The devices are characterised for operation over the -20°C to +70°C temperature range. The modules are powered by a single 5V supply.
