Choice of power supply is key to medical equipment design, with engineers having to consider factors such as earth leakage current, creepage and clearance, transformer construction, and output ripple and noise. Astec Power’s ‘off-the-shelf’ medically approved power supplies and external adapters for use in the non patient contact element of medical applications allow engineers to address a wide range of requirements, while modular, configurable technologies provide custom solutions in as little as two weeks with no price premium. At the board level, Astec’s DC/DC converters provide a comprehensive set of isolated and non-isolated conversion solutions. Astec Power offers EN-60601-1/IEC601-1 approved AC/DC power supplies for the non patient contact element of medical equipment. These include low-medium power AC/DC supplies, and configurable digitally controlled products, as well as highly reliable external power adapters ideal for portable medical equipment requiring safe and reliable ‘24/7’ operation. Once an approved AC/DC supply is deployed, designers can select conversion and board-level power delivery solutions from Astec’s broad range of DC/DC converters. Low Power Medical Supplies ![]() LPS50-M AC/DC Power Supply Supplied with industry standard footprints, Astec’s LPS and LPT medically qualified power supplies deliver power ratings from 40W to 175W. All products feature a universal, 85VAC – 264VAC input, remote sense on main output, and integrated overvoltage and overload protection. Full power can be delivered at temperatures up to 50°C, with derated operation to 70°C. Enclosure kits are available for all supplies.
iMP Digitally Controlled Power Supplies Astec’s iMP technology is fully approved to EN-60601-1, providing designers with a rapid route to application-specific medical power requirements. These digitally controlled AC/DC switching power supplies combine modular design with an onboard microprocessor for programmability and smart communications. Hardware modules give designers the ability to tailor solutions with single-, dual- and triple- outputs in power ratings from 400W to 1500W. Modules can be configured in a selection of four customisable cases accepting input voltages from 85VAC to 264VAC or 120VDC to 350VDC. Cases can accommodate up to seven individual modules with output options ranging from 2VDC to 60VDC. Arrow’s in-house power supply configuration service will allow application-specific Astec iMP solutions to be delivered in as little as two weeks, without any price premium over equivalent standard products. External Power Adapters Astec Power’s DPS50-M family of single-output 30W (5V output) and 60W (12V, 15V, 24V or 48V output) external power adapters are designed to provide the performance and reliability demanded by portable medical equipment required to deliver ‘24/7’ operation. Astec will also shortly launch the medically qualified, triple-output DPT50-M series offering power ratings from 30W to 50W and output voltage options of +3.3V, +5V, +12V; +5V, +12V, -12V; +5V, +15V, -15V; and +5V, +24V, +12V. DC/DC Converters Once the need to comply with EN60601-1 is addressed via a suitable AC/DC power supply, Astec DC/DC converters can be used to convert and deliver board level power. High-efficiency, high-density DC/DC converter products include isolated and non-isolated Point-of-Load (PoL) devices spanning power levels from 6W to 600W. With a focus on reliability, products in the Astec Power DC/DC converter family offer typical MTBF ratings in excess of one million hours. Astec Power Medical - Applications
