Fairchild Semiconductor’s new FAN7380 and FAN7382 high-side/low-side and half-bridge gate driver ICs significantly improve system reliability through excellent noise immunity.
Designed for MOSFETs and IGBTs operating up to +600V, the FAN7380 and FAN7382 are based on Fairchild’s high voltage process and a common-mode noise cancelling technique that gives stable operation of the high-side driver in conditions of high dv/dt noise.
The components deliver an advanced level shift circuit permitting industry-leading, high-side driver operation with negative VS swings of up to -9V (@ VBS=15V). These devices feature the industry’s lowest typical quiescent currents resulting in extremely low power consumption. With a voltage capability up to 600V and a very fast maximum switching speed, these devices are optimal for driving MOSFETs and IGBTs in a wide array of applications including air conditioners, washing machines, Plasma Display Panels (PDP), LCD monitors, electronic ballasts and industrial motor controls.
The FAN7380, featuring built-in, 100ns dead time control, is an excellent general purpose device, delivering 90mA sourcing and 180mA sinking drive current on both channels. Fairchild’s FAN7382, with a sourcing/sinking drive of 350mA/650mA, is well suited to PDP applications, fluorescent lamp ballasts and motor control applications.
Fairchild’s FAN7380 and the FAN7382 are available in 8-SOIC packages. These products are lead-free (Pb-free), meet or exceed the requirements of the joint IPC/JEDEC standard J-STD-020B, and are compliant with the European Union requirements that are now in effect.
