The XC164CM series microcontrollers from Infineon are value-line additions to the company’s 16-bit family. They combine real-time behaviour with DSP acceleration, high-performance PWM generation, CAN options and excellent ElectroMagnetic Compatibility (EMC) performance.
Suitable for use in industrial or automotive applications, the new devices provide impressive DSP performance and advanced interrupt handling combined with a powerful integrated peripheral set, high performance and reliable on-chip Flash memory. Designers can scale memory, speed and peripherals; and a tiny TQFP-64 lead-free package makes the XC164CM series suitable for space and cost-sensitive applications.
Featuring 20MHz and 40MHz CPU options with single-cycle execution, the devices are accelerated by the provision of 25ns 16-bit x 16-bit multiplication, background 32-bit/16-bit division and multiply-accumulate instructions.
Peripheral options include a 14-channel, 8-bit/10-bit A/D Converter with programmable resolution and conversion time down to 2.15µs. DMA support is provided for result transfer to memory location, and the module features automatic self-calibration in response to temperature or process changes.
A capture/compare unit (with three or six capture/compare channels and one compare channel) eases the generation of Pulse Width Modulation (PWM) signals for functions such as motor control. This gives designers the ability to simply produce a variety of control waveforms.
The XC164CM series also includes an optional on-chip TwinCAN interface (Rev. 2.0B active) with 32 message objects and gateway functionality.
Memory options include the choice of 4Kbyte or 6Kbyte RAM; and 32Kbyte or 64Kbyte Flash. The devices are available in extended industrial (-40°C to +85°C) and automotive (-40°C to +125°C) temperature grades.
