Electronica 2006 – A Report from Andy King in Munich

Dear Reader

Greetings to Innovation readers from the heart of Bavaria! Yes, this Dear Reader comes to you from Electronica 2006, an exhibition that, with 3500 exhibitors and in the region of 80,000 visitors, is without doubt the most important electronics show in Europe.

Not only do the 14 halls that make up Electronica showcase some of the latest and most innovative technologies from companies around the world, they also provide a valuable insight into the ‘health’ of the global electronics industry. This year I’m happy to report that, based on the activity we have seen so far, the industry would seem to be in very fine health indeed.

And nowhere has the activity been higher than on Arrow’s own stand, which has already become a focal point for many visitors to Hall A4 of the massive Messe München complex. The stand combines the forces of Arrow’s companies throughout Northern, Central and Southern Europe, and takes customers one step closer to accessing the industry’s broadest linecard of semiconductors, passive components, electromechanical devices, connectors, power supplies and a host of other technologies. What’s more, customers are also impressed with the access they have to a mix of supplier representatives who are available to lend their support to everything from technical queries to providing long-term technology roadmaps.

Of course, Arrow recognises that meeting the demands of today’s customers goes beyond simply supplying product. That’s why visitors to our stand at Electronica are also given the opportunity to find out about our wide variety of value added services, ranging from design-in and technical engineering support to sophisticated logistics and supply chain solutions.

It is now time to return to the Arrow stand and meet with more customers and suppliers. I hope you enjoy this issue of Arrow Innovation and, if you are in Munich, you will visit us during your visit.
