High-current solutions integrate current sensing
The new NovalithIC family of devices from Infineon offers complete, low-ohmic, high-current protected half-bridges as single packages. The devices feature up to 25kHz low-side and high-side switching capability and provide overcurrent, overvoltage and overtemperature protection.


NovalithIC Multi-Chip Module

Available with current ratings of 30A, 43A and 68A, NovalithIC range components integrate three separate chips in a single package: one p-channel high-side MOSFET, one n-channel low-side MOSFET and a driver IC. All three chips are mounted on a common leadframe, using chip-on-chip and chip-by-chip technology.

The power switches use vertical MOS technologies to ensure optimum on-state resistance. The provision of a p-channel high-side switch eliminates the need for a charge pump, thus minimising EMI. Interfacing to a microcontroller is made easy by the integrated driver IC which features logic level inputs, slew rate adjustment, dead time generation and protection against overtemperature, overvoltage, undervoltage, overcurrent and short circuit.

All of the devices – the BTS7930B, BTS7960B and BTS7970B – can be combined with other similar devices to form H-bridge and three-phase drive configurations.

An integrated analogue current sense feature is optionally available to monitor load current for easy torque control, reducing system costs.
