Vishay Intertechnology has announced the availability of a wide range of its diode and rectifier products in new SMPC packaging. The move to SMPC offers performance equivalent to established DPAK products, but in a much smaller overall form factor.
As well as saving 50% or more board space with its 4.3mm x 6.5mm outline, SMPC packaging offers exceptionally low profiles of 1.1mm. It enables the production of rectifiers that can handle currents of up to 12A, offer Transient Voltage Suppression (TVS) at up to 1,500W, and satisfy automotive quality and reliability requirements.
Vishay’s new SMPC diodes are suitable for use in automotive powerline, reverse polarity protection and DC/DC rectification applications. Members of the company’s SKY, FST and standard product ranges are all available in the new format, which uses a copper bottom plate to ensure efficient thermal coupling between device and PCB, improving cooling and maximising attainable current density.
