The TLE 7809G Industrial is a Multi-Chip Module (MCM) that combines an 8-bit 8051-compatible microcontroller with a System-Basis-Chip (SBC) equipped with a Local Interconnect Network transceiver (LIN), Low-DropOut voltage regulator (LDO), relay driver and supply line. Designed for use in intelligent actuators and motor control applications ranging from elevators to vending machines, the device can withstand the severe conditions encountered in industrial environments.
The integrated SBC and microcontroller of the TLE 7809 support low power modes for power-optimised applications, with sleep mode current as low as 40ľA. A wake-up from such power-saving modes is possible via a LIN bus message or up to five wake-up inputs.
The MCU features On-Chip Debug Support (OCDS) via JTAG, while routines within the integrated ROM support Flash program and erase functions. 16Kbyte of Flash memory is available for storing code and data. It also includes three 16-bit timers, capture/compare unit for PWM generation, and a programmable watchdog timer. Two ADC channels can be used for external signals, while an additional channel can be used to monitor the supply voltage or chip temperature.
The SBC incorporates a 5V LDO, and supports LIN in compliance with Specifications 2.0, 1.3, and SAE J2602. Two low-side switches provide relay driver capabilities, whilst a supply line can be used for external devices such as Hall sensors. An additional high-side driver for LEDs is also available.
For microcontroller supervision and additional protection of the circuit, the MCM includes a programmable window watchdog circuit with a reset feature, supply voltage supervision and integrated temperature sensor. This allows the designer to simply implement features such as UnderVoltage and over-temperature protection.
