DDR2 miniDIMM Sockets Enable High Density Memory in Small Form Factor Applications
40% savings in board area
Small form factor MiniDIMM memory sockets from Molex are designed to accept DDR2 miniDIMM memory modules and are suitable for use in servers, telecommunications equipment and data storage applications.
The small size of the miniDIMM socket satisfies the requirements of applications where high memory density is required but space is a significant constraint. MiniDIMM sockets are especially useful in situations where multiple memory modules are required.
Typical end products include 1U and 2U servers, blade servers, workstations, industrial computers, telecommunication and networking equipment and data storage systems. The sockets can be used in any application requiring multiple small modules with higher reliability than SODIMM.
The small pitch size of 0.6mm offers up to 40% savings in board area compared to 1.0mm pitch DDR2 DIMM sockets. The robust latches and latch towers at both ends of the miniDIMM socket offer locking and vibration damping to ensure that the memory modules sit securely in the sockets in case of shock and vibration.
The Molex miniDIMM socket product line includes vertical, 22.5º angled, and right-angled versions to meet every practical requirement. Standard and reversed orientation sockets complete the product family. To assure compliance with industry requirements, the miniDIMM family is offered with lead-free plating, and is RoHS compliant.
The MiniDIMM sockets are designed to accept JEDEC 200-pin MO-258 and 244-pin MO-244 memory modules that are available from many leading module manufacturers.
