Shielded Magnetics Reduce EMI Effects

Cooper Coiltronics brand magnetics from Cooper Bussman offer a wide variety of single and dual winding drum core inductors that include a magnetic shield, reducing EMI effects and providing industry leading specifications in terms of power density to size ratio.



These devices combine high power handling with superior efficiency, via a combination of high saturation current (lsat) and low DC Resistance (DCR) values. They are supplied in small footprint packages for applications such as notebook power, DC/DC converters, LCD panels, LED drivers, portable power devices and DVD players.

The DR73 and DR74 series are 7.3mm x 7.33mm (maximum) and available in two heights: 3.55mm and 4.35mm (maximum) respectively. The series has a wide inductance range from 0.33µH to 1,000µH and saturation current ranges from 0.26A peak to 18.4A peak.

The new DR1030, DR1040 and DR1050 series are 10.3mm x 7.5mm (maximum) and available in three heights: 3.0mm (DR1030); 4.0mm (DR1040); and 5.0mm (DR1050). The series has a wide inductance range and offers maximum peak currents of 9.5A (DR1030), 10.0A (DR1040), and 13.5A (DR1050).

Another new component, the DR124, extends the DR125/DR127 series. These components are 12.5mm x 12.5mm and available in heights of 4.5mm (DR124), 6.0mm (DR125) and 8.0mm maximum (DR127). The series has a wide inductance range from 0.47µH to 1,000µH and saturation current range from 0.44A peak to 56A peak.

Dual winding versions are now available in four of the popular DR series options to provide even more solution possibilities. The DRQ73, DRQ74, DRQ125 and DRQ127 dual-winding devices can be used as a single inductor, coupled inductor or 1:1 transformer with 200VAC isolation. The dual windings also provide increased inductance value capabilities (up to 4.02mH), achieved by connecting the windings in a series configuration.

If a standard solution is not available, Cooper Coiltronics brand products can be customised to provide the optimum solution for specific product needs.
