USB Stick Integrates Full Evaluation Kit for 8-Bit Microcontroller Designs
Low cost plug-and-play functionality for a wide range of applications
The XC800 USCALE kit from Infineon is a low cost USB stick providing full evaluation capability for the company's XC866, XC886 and XC888 family of 8-bit microcontrollers, all on a single platform. The hardware is fully supported with development toolchains, demos and tutorials for quick installation and ease of use.
The XC800 processors are part of Infineon's family of 8-bit 8051-type MCUs designed to meet the needs of a broad range of applications including motor control, washing machines, transportation, building automation, automotive body, air conditioning and industrial automation. In addition, for those applications where high efficiency motor control is important, the XC886/888 MCUs offer a unique and powerful integrated Field Oriented Control (FOC) function.
The USB stick format offers access to the key features and hardware signals through a 16-pin connector, allowing full evaluation of the XC800 microcontroller’s powerful set of peripherals including CAN, ADC, CAPCOM6E and timers. This also includes the ability to evaluate fully the powerful FOC function of the XC886/888 devices.
The development tools supplied with the XC800 USCALE start kit includes an evaluation copy of the Keil toolchain as well as the free SDCC/HiTOP development tools. XC800 documentation, application notes and examples are also included to provide a low-cost, turn-key package. Infineon's Digital Application virtual Engineer (DAvE) is also available as part of the kit to facilitate the creation of an application skeleton and automated configuration of peripherals.
The XC800 MCUs offer 16KByte or 32KByte of embedded Flash and a rich peripheral set, including 10-bit ADC and high-performance timer with CAPture and COMpare (CAPCOM) for PWM implementations, to suit a wide variety of design requirements. The devices also feature a number of power saving modes, allowing their use in low-power and battery operated products. In addition, the products are available with industrial and automotive qualification.
The XC886 and XC888 variants include an on-chip Multiplication/Division Unit (MDU) and up to 48 General Purpose I/Os (GPIOs).
