Filtered Power Entry Modules Suit Industrial, Medical and Telecom Applications

Schurter has expanded its range of power entry modules with two filtered products, the 5120 and the 5707. The 5120 is a low-cost module for currents of up to 15A; the 5707 features IP65 sealing and integral fuse.



Both devices are line filtered in accordance with IEC 60939, IEC 60601-1, UL 1283, UL 544, EN 133 200 and CSA C22.2 no. 8. Both inlets can be equipped with additional capacitors for supplementary surge protection, up to 8kV. Dielectric withstand is 1.7kVDC between live and neutral, and better than 2.7kVDC between live/neutral and earth.

The 5120 can accommodate currents of 1A to 10A at 250VAC, 50Hz, according to IEC standards; and 1A to 15A at 250VAC, 60Hz, to UL and CSA specifications. The module exhibits leakage current of less than 0.5mA for standard products and less than 5µA for medical devices.



The 5707 module is sealed to IP65, making it resistant to dirt, dust or other fine particles as well as sprays, splashes or jets of non-aggressive liquids. The module incorporates a sealed fuseholder that accepts 5 x 20mm fuses. Screw caps with o-rings are used to maintain the seal between the cap and holder. In accordance with IEC 60601-1 for medical use, a tool is required to remove the cap from the holder to replace the fuse.

These features make the 5707 module highly suitable for use in electronic equipment exposed to leaks, drips and spills, as well as equipment subject to routine washing or disinfecting. These include medical applications such as diagnostic equipment, dialysis and infusion devices, and commercial appliances such as drink dispensing equipment.

Rated for use from 1A to 8A use at 250VAC, 50Hz (in accordance with IEC ratings), and in the same current range at 125VAC, 60Hz (UL/CSA specifications), the module includes an integral EMC shield and features quick-connect terminals.
