Power Connectors Suit a Range of Applications

FCI offers a broad range of power connector solutions for power supply and backplane-to-card interfaces as well as bus bars and cable assemblies for power distribution. The company’s understanding of the evolving market requirements for power connectors allows it to provide innovative and cost-effective solutions that enable increased power density and improved airflow and thermal management.



FCI’s range provides the design engineer with end-to-end power solutions for chassis-based equipment designs. Products include the power D-sub, part of the company’s proven D-sub range. Offering full or mixed power capabilities for PCB or cable applications, variants are available rated at up to 40A. Along with solder-to-board and press-fit versions, FCI now offers pin-in-paste versions. The latest addition to the family is the new µTCA standard D-sub connectors rated at 24V/49A and 48V/24A.

The Pwrblade system is designed to provide power distribution and control in a single connector. It includes power and signal contacts and supports coplanar, backplane or mezzanine connections. Suitable for robust power connections, and capable of handling up to 48A, the Pwrblade series also includes cable assemblies and connectors designed to mate to Pwrblade right angle or vertical board-mounted headers.



Like the Pwrblade series, the HCI power connector system integrates both power and signal contacts, the difference being its high current capability of up to 85A per contact at +30°C. This makes it suitable for use in higher wattage power distribution systems where increased linear power density is desired. The HCI series supports coplanar and backplane form factors

Metral high power modules can be used in combination with any signal module, providing 80A total current-carrying capacity per module.

Airmax VS Power is a compact, hard metric range that provides high-density interconnection via signal connectors and guidance modules. The products are rated at up to 80A per module and the protected receptacles are UL 60950 compliant (finger probe).

A range of low profile, cost-effective power card-edge connectors is available with up to 32 power and signal contacts. Right-angle, vertical and straddle-mount connectors are available in various terminal counts with a full complement of power contacts, offering current handling of up to 7A per contact.



The USB+Power family offers a USB 2.0 type A receptacle with four additional lines of power integrated above the USB receptacle. These power lines provide over 5A of additional current, for use with higher power peripherals. Keying and colour coding is available for for 5V, 12V and 24V.
