Schottky Rectifiers Offer Easy Assembly and High Surge Resistance
Suitable for rectification or protection
A new family of low-Vf Schottky barrier rectifiers from Taiwan Semiconductor offers ease of assembly and high surge-current resistance. They can be used for low voltage high frequency rectification or circuit protection purposes.
The devices are available in 3A (SSL32, SSL33, SSL34), 2A (SSL22, SSL23, SSL24) and 1A (SSL12, SSL13, SSL14) versions, in SMC, SMB and SMA packages respectively. Designed for automated assembly and high temperature soldering, they are lead free and RoHS compliant.
The new diodes feature a high surge-current capability of 100A for the 2A and 3A family members and 50A for the 1A components. Maximum instantaneous forward voltage for the 2A and 3A families is 0.41V and for the 1A types 0.38V. The diodes can withstand a maximum, recurrent, peak reverse voltage of up to 40V, maximum RMS voltage of 28V and maximum DC blocking voltage of up to 40V.
The devices themselves are of epitaxial construction, while the cases are of moulded plastic, carrying UL Classification 94V-0. They are available in standard tape and reel packaging.
Taiwan Semiconductor was founded in 1979 by today’s company president Mr. Arthur Wang. During this time, Taiwan Semiconductor has developed from a national manufacturer to a worldwide operating company, employing over 2000 people globally. In 2000, the company began trading on the Stock Exchange in Taipei.
The company portfolio includes diodes, analogue ICs and MOSFETs. These are predominantly employed in the automotive, computer, consumer, industrial and telecommunications industries.
Manufacturing locations are in Taiwan and China, and are certified to Quality Standards such as the TS16949, ISO9001 and ISO14001. Taiwan Semiconductor opened offices in 2002 in Europe and the USA. The European office locations are in Munich, Germany (European Central Office) and Paris, France.
With a worldwide turnover in 2006 of $106 million and growth of 45%, Taiwan Semiconductor is amongst the world’s fastest-growing semiconductor companies.
