Wide Flash memory range for automotive applications
Spansion® provides Flash memory solutions in multiple densities, voltages and packages suited to use in automotive applications and components, including infotainment, navigation, telematics, powertrain and safety systems.
Automotive applications represent rigorous environments for Flash memory products since quality, long-term support and conformance with specifications are imperative. Flash memory solutions need to meet ISO/TS 16949:2002 and Automotive Electronics Council (AEC) worldwide specifications as well as last entire vehicles’ lifecycles. These can span 20 years, requiring device support far longer than in most consumer markets.
Spansion’s Flash memory meets these rigorous requirements, which is why the ten top manufacturers of automotive electronic components choose Spansion Flash memory products. The largest company focused exclusively on Flash memory solutions, Spansion offers one of the widest, most comprehensive Flash product lines available for automotive electronics applications.
Spansion is currently completing AEC-Q100 qualification on 200nm MirrorBit® SPI products. When completed, SPI (Serial Peripheral Interface) devices with densities from 4Mbit through 64Mbit will be added to the existing wide portfolio of products targeted at automotive applications.
These applications include: infotainment, in-vehicle entertainment devices such as DVD players, high-definition radios, and satellite radios; navigation and telematics, such as navigation, emergency assistance and real-time traffic systems and remote diagnostics; powertrain, e.g. engine management and transmission control units; safety, such as traction and stability control, airbag deployment, anti-lock braking systems (ABS), parking and anti-collision systems.
In infotainment, Spansion’s 3V solutions combine 4Mb to 1Gb Flash memory with high-density storage to meet the needs of converged infotainment and telematic/navigation systems. SPIs reduce requirements for board space and address lines to memory, delivering high cost-effectiveness. In telematics and navigation, increasing data storage requirements and a growing list of features demand high-density Flash memory. Spansion MirrorBit technology supports storage-intensive applications with a range of densities—from 1Gbit to 16Mbit and high-performance code execution.
Powertrain demands for engine control and transmission control units include a 2.5V power supply and Flash memory ranging from 8Mbit to 32Mbit and the highest levels of reliability and performance. Spansion delivers the ideal range of densities and burst-mode interfaces that support temperatures ranging from -40°C to +145°C.
In safety applications, Spansion delivers highly reliable, high-performance Flash memory solutions that support vehicle traction and stability control, airbag deployment, automatic braking systems (ABS), parking guidance and anti-collision warning systems. Densities range from 32Mbit to 4Mbit; support temperatures range from -40°C to +125°C (AL family). SPI options reduce cost and board space requirements.
