Pressure Sensors and EMC Filters Suit Medical Applications

EPCOS has announced two new product lines optimised for medical applications. A new range of EMC filters boasts extremely low leakage currents, while the Aktiv Sensor offers a range of pressure transmitters suitable for anesthesia and breath control equipment from several 100mbar up to 25bar.



The new, compact two-line filters in the SIFI-F (type B84111FM) series, available now in a medical version, combine the advantages of the standard SIFI-F version with an extremely low maximum leakage current of 2µA.

With its compact dimensions, the SIFI series from EPCOS is therefore well suited for medical applications such as ultrasound devices, X-ray systems, or other medical diagnostic devices where low leakage current is a critical factor.

Despite their compact design, the filters offer very good suppression of both common mode and differential interference. Applications for approval have been submitted to all three of the major worldwide standards bodies (UL, cUL and ENEC). The SIFI-F, along with the larger SIFI-G and SIFI-H series, is designed to be used at an operating temperature of up to +100°C. Filters that can handle currents of up to 36A are available.



EPCOS subsidiary Aktiv Sensor has developed a new series of precision pressure transmitters. The devices are designed for measuring absolute and relative pressure in the range between 100mbar and 25bar. The typical linearity error over the full scale is 0.1%. The pressure transmitters are calibrated and temperature-compensated prior to shipping.

These integrated sensor systems are available in rugged stainless steel casing with 3.175mm (1/8in) male threads. Versions are available that comply with IP54, IP65 or IP68 protection classifications. Versions without casing in protection class IP00 are available with M5 or M6 male threads.

The standard versions offer output proportional to pressure from 0.5V to 4.5V, 1.0V to 9.0V and 4mA to 20mA. Other customer-specific output values are also available as special requests.
