MOSFET Family Offers Best in Class Performance

Infineon Technologies’ OptiMOS™ 3 N-channel MOSFET portfolio contains an extensive range of products in all commonly used voltage classes between 25V and 150V. The OptiMOS 3 products feature a market leading RDS_on at least 30% better than the next best product in each voltage class, enabling power density improvements combined with best price-performance ratio.

Besides well-known, standard TO package types, TO-220, TO-252, etc, high performance packages such as D2PAK 7pin, SuperSO8, S3O8 or CanPAK™ are available.


This suits a variety of power conversion applications, including AC/DC and DC/DC switched mode power supplies in computers, telecommunications equipment etc, as well as low-voltage motor drives in such applications as battery operated vehicles, power tools, fans or brushless DC motors in general.

The OptiMOS 3 MOSFETs combine unique characteristics for low on-state resistance and low gate charge, Q_g, delivering a figure of merit, RDS_on x Q_g, as much as 25% better than competing devices. Especially in fast switching applications, increasingly stringent energy saving requirements require best-in-class conduction and switching performance, which the OptiMOS 3 can offer. The use of low-inductive packages such as the 5mm x 6mm SuperSO8 and 3.3mm x 3.3mm S3O8, or the CanPAK, further helps to reduce the switching losses.

For high-current applications such as forklift truck motor controllers, the D2PAK 7pin package offers DC current ratings up to 180A. Five source pins reduce the package resistance significantly and spread the current equally, thus eliminating thermal hot spots. The CanPAK package is an optimal choice for double-sided cooling and low inductance.

By mid 2009, the product portfolio in CanPAK will extend to all available voltage classes, i.e. from 30V to 150V.
