National Semiconductor, a pioneer in operational amplifiers, offers a comprehensive portfolio of op amp solutions from building-block products to application-specific devices. Furthermore, National's latest online tools make op amp circuit design easier than ever before.

National Semiconductor's broad range of low voltage/low power amplifiers provides engineers with high quality, high performance devices in a variety of innovative and space-saving packages. As well as standard parts, the range includes high-speed devices that are opening up new opportunities in video, audio, communications and data storage applications.

Good examples of some of the most recent high-speed devices are the latest National low distortion op amps for high-end applications. These include very wideband devices such as the LMH6738 triple op amp and the LMH6739 triple video buffer, both of which have been specifically designed for ultra high resolution video systems and wide dynamic range systems requiring exceptional signal fidelity. National also offers the LMH6572 triple 2:1 video multiplexer for use in applications such as RGB video routers, multi-input video monitors, and fault tolerant data switching.

In addition, National will soon be launching other high-speed devices such as the LMH6724, a dual current feedback op amp. The LMH6724 joins the existing single- and quad 1mA current feedback devices that offer the best speed/power ratio in their class. Finally, the LMH6704 650MHz programmable buffer with disable function will also be launched by the end of the year.

Full support for design and development based on National's op amps is provided by the company's WEBENCH™ online interactive design environment. WEBENCH provides design guidance including component selection and configuration tips, allows engineers to create and analyse a design, and then buy the relevant parts and evaluation boards to implement and test that design. WEBENCH makes analogue design fast and easy, with convenient graphical navigation tools, an interactive product selector, and tools to perform simulations.
