Tyco Electronics power conversion solutions from Arrow provide all of the modules and components needed to rapidly implement the widest possible variety of distributed power architectures (DPAs), including those based on increasingly popular Intermediate Bus Architecture (IBA) configurations. IBA solutions use a ‘single-output' power supply to generate an electrically secure separate DC voltage, which can then be distributed with low losses, even in systems with large physical dimensions.

Tyco products range from AC rectifier and front-end power supplies, to isolated, regulated DC/DC converters, Intermediate Bus Converters (IBCs), and Point-Of-Load (POL) DC/DC converters.

High Power Front End Power Supplies

Tyco's range of high power front-end power supplies provides power ratings from 500W to 10kW, allowing designers to address a broad range of industrial, telecommunication and other power system requirements.

The range includes rectifiers and modular power supplies, all of which are approved to relevant international safety standards.

Key products in the range include

    DC/DC Converters

Tyco's DC/DC converter family includes isolated DC/DC converters in a variety of popular formats, Intermediate Bus Converters (IBCs), and POL devices. As a founder member of the Distributed-power Open Standards Alliance (DOSA), Tyco is committed to ensuring compatibility and standardisation in the increasingly fragmented power converter market.

    Isolated DC/DC Converters

Suitable for conventional DPAs and new and emerging IBAs, the Tyco modular power conversion family includes a range of isolated DC/DC converters in sizes ranging from 1” x 1” to half brick formats. Included in the range are a number of 1/8 brick and 1/4 brick format IBCs designed to deliver 9V and 12V intermediate bus voltages.

    Non-Isolated DC/DC Converters

Tyco's Austin Lynx and Austin Lynx II Series of non-isolated DC-DC power modules are designed to deliver ‘big' power from a small space. Providing output voltages from 3.3V to sub-1.8V, these devices are approved for global use in a wide variety of application categories, and address the low voltage, high current requirements of the latest silicon solutions. The devices are rapidly becoming an industry standard, and are already deployed at critical nodes in many distributed power architectures.

Available with a wide range of input voltages, including the new 24V Austin Lynx series, these modules can be used in IBAs as well as conventional DPAs. A typical power architecture may, for example, combine the Tyco EIPS100 AC-DC converter, producing a stable 24VDC output, with individual 24V series Austin Lynx power modules supplying one or more required voltage rails down to 3.3V.

When voltages below 3.3V are required, one 24V Austin Lynx module, in series with the AC/DC converter, can be used to convert the 24VDC rail to a lower voltage, such as 5V. This provides the input to further Austin Lynx converters downstream, generating the individual voltages including sub-3.3V rails as required.
